Tri-Valley Opportunity Council is Hiring a Shop Maintenance Assistant Near Crookston, MN
SUMMARY OF PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Shop Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the cleanliness of the inside and outside of Tri-Valley's fleet of buses. Assist the program by switching buses to and from bus parking garages to the shop or other vendors. The Shop Maintenance Assistant will provide upkeep to transit facilities and provide assistance to Bus Services Mechanic's and Transportation Fleet Supervisor. The Shop Maintenance Assistant will also serve as a Bus Driver as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bus Service
- Washes the outside of the buses with the bus wash machine and by hand, whichever is appropriate to complete task.
- Mops, dusts and wipes the insides of the buses.
- Moves the buses from parking spaces to the wash bay and back to parking spaces, or wherever is requested.
- Sweeps, cleans, and empties trash in the shop, cold storage and south shop.
- Sandblasts, preps and paints rims and other parts as needed.
- Buffs and cleans the exterior of the buses.
- Assists the Bus Service Mechanics and Transportation Fleet Supervisor in the completion of shop tasks when needed.
- Keeps the wash bay clean and neat.
- Transfers buses and fuels after transfer to primary locations.
- May occasionally drive bus. Expected to follow bus driver job duty expectations.
- Acts as a positive and professional role model for peers; working as a team to help each other learn and succeed. Is respectful of co-workers; appreciating their contribution to the success of daily operations and Transportation programs overall.
- Completes training, paperwork and attends meetings as requested by supervisor.
- Remains alert and always focused on driving; is aware of potential weather and/or driving conditions that may affect the safety of passengers and route schedule.
- Performs Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Vehicle Safety inspections according to checklist before each starting route and again when route is finished. Promptly reports vehicle problems to the Transportation Fleet Supervisor.
- Immediately reports vehicle accidents, regardless of damage, break downs, and passenger accident/incidents.
- Immediately reports employee injuries of any kind to Transportation Fleet Supervisor and completes a worker's compensation accident report form as soon as possible; no later than the end of the shift.
- Participates in mandatory Drug and Alcohol training; complies with required and requested testing.
- Must complete pre-service safety awareness training specific to position before performing essential functions of the job, annually thereafter and as requested to ensure your safety as well as the safety of others.
- Follows precautionary safety instructions to prevent injury and illness resulting from exposure to hazardous substances, sharp and/or moving parts, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Complies with traffic laws and regulations.
- Complies with CDL requirements and regulations.
- Safely performs Tri-Valley Transportation Driver Certification criteria to maintain employment.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License with Passenger; upon hire and maintain thereafter.
- Current Medical Examination Card; upon hire and maintain thereafter.
- Minimum age of 21 years, if required to drive bus across state line.
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background search requirements as listed on Conditional Job Offer; upon hire and continuously meet requirements thereafter. Participate in subsequent drug/alcohol testing and background searches as appropriate.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Pass Tri-Valley Transportation Driver Certification training and observation provided upon hire: must pass to continue employment.
